We are looking to merge the single and multifile uploader into one page. Therefore we are investigating a new flash-based multi file uploader. ( http://www.swfupload.org )

You can give it a try over here:

http://www.picturepush.com/upload2

and let us know what you think.

Note: by now this uploader has been integrated into the main site as well

It loads faster then the JAVA upload, which is logical actually.
I also think the progress is clearer now. OK it's not a totally percentage progressbar, but you can see from each file how far it is.

I noticed it just lists the files under each other.
So if you for example decide to upload 100 photos, the page gets quite long.

It works fast & uploads at the same rate it otherwise does. And it doesn't give any problems if you add extra files while it's uploading

I tried uploading 4 images to an album with Chrome, Safari 3.2, Firefox 3 & Opera
The uploader loads fast in all of them and doesn't give any problems.

But the uploader has one major evil bug: only the first selected file is added to the album. It uploads the others but if you look into the album afterwards you can't find them... so you kind of wasted bandwidth at it but they aren't there after uploading.

I uploaded them each time to the Picture Box album [cpattyn.picturepush.com].. if that is of any help.

Thanks for testing, that is a weird bug indeed. I'll test some more, sometimes it doesn't even upload the first one Sad

It should work now. I've also added a scrollbar to the list so it doesn't go weird with a lot of files.

Also I have now replaced the old upload page with this new uploader.

The new uploader make me insane just because I uploaded multifiles but it uploaded for me only 1 file. May be because I use a mac? IDK, it's non-sense to be like that.

I love the old version because even it slower but it's more stable - not stuck in only 1 file. So, now I still use the old version.

I've had an other report of it not working properly on a Mac, I'll try to get my hands on a mac as soon as possible to have a look at that.

I still haven't gotten to a mac, but I have fixed a few possible causes, so if anyone that was having problems is willing to test it, please do. Furthermore I have enabled the 'auto reupload' for failed upload. so if an upload fails, it will immediately retry (three times) before continuing with the other files.

I noticed this new uploader is the only option now.
The upload tools page still mentions "zipped upload"
I was wondering if this is still possible now or not?
will it work if you upload a zip file with this new flash uploader? or is this feature removed now?

I'm testing the uploader now on Windows and it works perfect.

zip upload should still work. What the flash uploader does is just call the old upload script for every file you selected.

Well, by now it's past the beta Smile We liked it so much that we put it in the main site. It's good to hear that you like it as well.

Just a comment that for me the new uploader is easier to work with, since I am often at internet cafes with unreliable or slow connections. Previously I used to set it to upload ten files, but if I lost the internet connection before the upload was complete all files were lost. Now the files are uploaded one by one, and I can safely put all new pictures in the upload list while I get on with something else. Also I seem to remember that previously if you accidentally tried to upload the same picture twice, it would be duplicated. Now this doesn't appear to happen.

At some point I am going to want to download full versions of several hundred pictures. Is there any way to do this other than taking them individually?

Currently you can only do that through WebDAV (see http://www.picturepush.com/tools how to get access) We are planning on a feature to download albums as a Zip file, but I can't say yet when it will be done.

I am having problems uploading larger (100 mb) video files with the new uploader. They load fine with the old uploader. Any comment?

maybe this explains:
http://www.picturepush.com/tour
and
http://www.picturepush.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4
100MB is maximum filesize

and why would you upload thát big video's?
If you haven't already: you can easily convert them to mp4, the quality will stay the same but size will be reduced incredibly.

Refer to this topic & google off course =):

Ok, I've got several reports of this:

If you select multiple files for upload at once in the file dialog and hit 'Open' nothing happens. If you go back and select only a single file it works perfectly and you can repeat to add more files to upload.

So: If upload is not working, try one at a time.
However, we are ofcourse also interested in solving this problem, so if you encounter it: Please report it over here and include information about the Browser, Operating System and Flash plugin version. (can be found over here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ )
