I wouldn't particularly recommend this strategy because you do have to remember that dieting is not especially fun and that additional fat gained will have to come off at some point (assuming of course you don't intend to stay a fatty). If you only hit your drives 200 yards or less, you will always be faced with a long iron into the green. Now I don't know about you, but I find it difficult to consistently get long irons anywhere near the hole.
