Important: Help us keep your albums online

Dear user,

Unfortunately, starting today PicturePush.com will no longer offer a free-plan. After seven years of operation we are unable to support the cost of free accounts using advertising. A small percentage of users was unable to stick to our rules regarding content, thus repeatedly violating the conditions of our advertising partner. In the past few weeks we tried several options, but these failed to match the cost of storing your images in a reliable way.

As we do not want to compromise on quality of service or resort to very agressive forms of advertising, the only option we see is to move picturepush.com to a paid-only service. In this way everyone will get the opportunity to keep their photos online.

So what does this mean for you? As of now (June 30th) you will no longer be able to upload photos to your account. Starting July 21th, your images will no longer be visible and on August 7th we will take the images offline. (We will try to keep a backup available as long as we can) Until then it will be possible to download your albums as a zip file (or via webdav).

To re-enable uploading of new photos and ensure the visibility of your images in the future, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan.

We have introduced a very fair priced subscription at EUR 0.99 a month (think about it, this is less than a cup of coffee!), which can be cancelled on a per-month basis. For this you will get 5GB of photo and video storage, without advertising and including pro-features such as password protected albums.

We are very sorry about this drastic move and the short notice, but operational costs are significant enough that not moving quickly would harm the existence of the site.

Belangrijk: Help ons om je foto's online te houden

Jammergenoeg zal Picturepush.com vanaf vandaag geen gratis accounts meer aanbieden. Na zeven jaar kunnen we de kosten van de gratis accounts niet meer dragen op basis van advertenties. Een klein aantal gebruikers houdt zich structureel niet aan de regels met betrekking tot inhoud, waardoor we afscheid hebben moeten nemen van onze adverteerders. We hebben gezocht naar alternatieven, maar deze waren niet toereikend om de dienst in stand te houden.

We willen geen compromis op kwaliteit of ons wenden tot agressieve advertentie methoden, daarom zien we als enige optie om alle accounts betaald te maken. Op die manier kunnen we iedereen de mogelijkheid bieden om foto's toch online te houden.

Wat betekend dit voor bestaande gebruikers? Vanaf nu (30 Juni) is het niet meer mogelijk om foto's te uploaden op een gratis account. Vanaf 21 Juli zullen foto's niet langer zichtbaar zijn en vanaf 7 Augustus zullen de foto's definitief niet meer via de site beschikbaar zijn. (We doen ons best om een backup zo lang mogelijk beschikbaar te houden) Tot die tijd is het mogelijk om albums als zip-file (of via Webdav) te downloaden.

Om weer nieuwe foto's te kunnen uploaden en te zorgen dat foto's beschikbaar blijven is het noodzakelijk om een betaald abonnement af te sluiten.

Om dit voor zo veel mogelijk mensen bereikbaar te maken hebben we een nieuw abonnement geintroduceerd van EUR 0,99 per maand. (Dat is minder dan een kopje koffie) Bovendien kan dit per maand worden opgezegd. Hiervoor krijg je 5 GB opslag, geen advertenties en alle pro-features zoals het afschermen van albums met een wachtwoord.

Het spijt ons dat we deze drastische stap op zo'n korte termijn moeten nemen, maar de kosten voor opslag van foto's zijn dusdanig dat anders het voortbestaan van de site in gevaar zou komen.
